Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!!!

I just wanted to thank everybody for coming to Cabo to celebrate our marriage (and for those that could not make it, you missed a great time and great weather). Also, we did officially get married in front of Judge McShane (the closest I could find to an Irish judge) on Friday, January 16. Vannhu and I are still searching for the best photo website so we can officially ask you for your photos (within a day or two), and thanks in advance for those photos. I will send out an email to the evite list with a website and password to upload all your photos. Again we can't thank you enough for coming and we hope that all of you had a great time. Thanks, Bryan and Vannhu

CABO TIPS

Last minute reminders/tips:
1. The temperature drops at night significantly. Make sure you pack more than just shorts and flip-flops.
2. We have asked for people to dress business-casual for the wedding. I am not wearing a tie so nobody else should wear a tie. Women if you are wearing a dress you probably want a shawl/coat for the reception dinner as it may get cool. Brennan's is an open air restaurant.
3. Phones: It has been recommended that you use phones sparingly and turn them off when not in use (the foreign charges for incoming calls, even if unanswered can be expensive).
4. Medicine: It is Mexico and while the majority of food and beverages are made using purified water you probably want something just in case. I have also been told to refrain from going to the bathroom at the airport.
5. Sunscreen: For the norhern folks the sun is going to be pretty intense so make sure you are wearing sunscreen, we don't want any lobsters in our pictures.
6. Pictures: Vannhu and I have decided to skip the photographer so if you are bringing a camera we want you to use it frequently and then send us the photos.
See you all soon!!!

Transport Update

So I have contacted the people at Castillo Blarney Inn. She sent me the following message:

The shuttle service that I have a contract with is Contact Tours. With them I can guarantee that you will arrive at my hotel in 3 or no more than 4 stops from the airport. I also make the reservations for your pick up and return to the airport and include this service in your hotel bill so that our guests do not have to worry about anything. This roundtrip service is $40.00 U.S. Dollars per person. However if you have guests that will be arriving the same date & time I can also offer private service that saves everyone some money.

The last time I made arrrangements with them but this roundtrip service is about $140.00 U.S. Dollars and it covers 5 to 6 people plus luggage. They use suburbans or vans so the number of people varies. If you would like to direct your guests to our website I will help them figure out which service best serves their needs.

Lodging

Vannhu and I are staying at the Castillo Blarney Inn for the weekend. We have invited our families and some of the guests to stay there as well, but unfortunately the hotel is not big enough to house all of the anticipated guests. Obviously, there are a number of lodging options in Cabo San Lucas from B&Bs, to Boutique Hotels like Castle Blarney Inn, to large all-inclusive resorts to private villas. Any lodging in Cabo San Lucas will be only a short cab ride to the Castle Blarney Inn, which sits up on the cliffs. Vannhu and I are more than happy to share any of the information we found in searching for a place to hold our wedding so just send me or Vannhu an email.

Flights and Transportation

Flights are quite expensive. Unfortunately, part of this is because of the taxes associated with international flights and obviously increased oil prices. From the Midwest anything under $500 seems to be pretty reasonable and we have heard prices ranging from $350-$500 from California. Don't forget you need a passport. Here is airport information: http://sjdloscabosairport.com/

Obviously, weather in January in the Midwest could be a factor so Vannhu and I are recomending that for flights out of the Midwest that you avoid any connections in places like Chicago or Denver to the extent possible.

The Los Cabos Airport (SJD) services San Jose Del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. Cabo San Lucas is about 50 minutes from the Airport, which is obviously a bit far for a taxi ride. The Castillo Blarney Inn indicates that there is a shuttle bus $12 one way, which takes 1.5 hours, and I know that there are shuttles to most of the hotels. For those of you thinking about renting a car to give yourself more freedom while in Mexico, this may be an opportunity to car pool especially to/from the airport. I would suggest that you indicate your date/time of arrival and departure in a comment if you need a ride or are looking to fill a car for the drive to Cabo.

Here is a website for shuttles: http://sjdloscabosairport.com/transportation/index.php (Although Castillo Blarney Inn is not listed as an option, it is approximately 1 mile from downtown Cabo, which is Zone 3).

Fortunately, downtown Cabo is only about a mile from the hotel so it is walkable (at least one way) and cabs in and around the city once you are there should be fairly cheap and easy.
