Flights and Transportation

Flights are quite expensive. Unfortunately, part of this is because of the taxes associated with international flights and obviously increased oil prices. From the Midwest anything under $500 seems to be pretty reasonable and we have heard prices ranging from $350-$500 from California. Don't forget you need a passport. Here is airport information: http://sjdloscabosairport.com/

Obviously, weather in January in the Midwest could be a factor so Vannhu and I are recomending that for flights out of the Midwest that you avoid any connections in places like Chicago or Denver to the extent possible.

The Los Cabos Airport (SJD) services San Jose Del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. Cabo San Lucas is about 50 minutes from the Airport, which is obviously a bit far for a taxi ride. The Castillo Blarney Inn indicates that there is a shuttle bus $12 one way, which takes 1.5 hours, and I know that there are shuttles to most of the hotels. For those of you thinking about renting a car to give yourself more freedom while in Mexico, this may be an opportunity to car pool especially to/from the airport. I would suggest that you indicate your date/time of arrival and departure in a comment if you need a ride or are looking to fill a car for the drive to Cabo.

Here is a website for shuttles: http://sjdloscabosairport.com/transportation/index.php (Although Castillo Blarney Inn is not listed as an option, it is approximately 1 mile from downtown Cabo, which is Zone 3).

Fortunately, downtown Cabo is only about a mile from the hotel so it is walkable (at least one way) and cabs in and around the city once you are there should be fairly cheap and easy.
